There are many things that you see on camera, but there is a whole hell of a lot of things that you don't see on camera. Take for example when I mess up an intro repeatedly, when I get into an argument with the series producer because I'm having a prima donna moment or when stuff just doesn't go like we think it will go. Hey, that's non-scripted television, right? You try to capture all of the moments, but some of them don't make the cut, and some are not seen at all
In Ireland there I was hurling, day in and day out. I practiced with my team, the local college and little kids. All a truly memorable experience packed into eight days of work. It was a lot of running around and, considering we had cultural things to do during the day, we were fighting for rest. But you know when you're tired and you feel like you have no energy at all, some things can still get you going. Well, enter the Trinity Ball, the largest private party any college puts on in the entire world. Yes, there was energy in my spare tank, and I used it. Picture over 6,000 college students having the time of their lives. There were three stages all going with different bands at the same time. There was everything from DJs to live performances. Personalities were flown in from all over the world to attend the Trinity Ball. It was Woodstock on Red Bull, and everyone had wings. We had drinks and dances. People were sprawled out on the lawn laughing as well as passed out. I couldn't hear the person next to me, it was so loud. But hey, when in Ireland do as the Irish, and that means party.
Now the crew wasn't around to witness the preverbal sh-t show, but I was. You see, I have this knack for somehow ending up in a place where you may not have thought me to go. But, I was there because one of my teammates invited me. He wanted me to see another part of the country that some have experienced but many have not. The camera won't make it everywhere, but I'll go everywhere and somehow tell you the story and maybe you will go there, as well.
That's the best part of traveling -- discovering the unexpected. Can't wait to see this episode!
Ditto Terry's comment! The best part of traveling is absolutely ALL about going off the beaten path! LOVE your show! I think you should find a way to let viewers win a chance to come along on one of your trips! I'm just saying... :)
Keep up the good work, Dhani. I never assumed that you've got an easy job and you certainly make travel look a lot more fun than it already is. I'm a fan of your channel and certainly approve of your show. I gotta make a shirt for you to wear!
Now you left me hanging...what happens at the Irish party???
Ditto on Elizabeth's comment...I would love to travel on one of the trips and see behind the scenes...my life is boring, I need some excitement!
Hey Dhani,
I agree with Christine and Elizabeth's comment to a certain extent. I feel you should let a viewer come along on one of your adventures, but not through a contest. Just send me my ticket =). Anyway it seems you had a great time on this trip, and I can not wait to see the part of it the cameras did see. The show gets better every episode and you can see how you were becoming more comfortable in each new show. Dhani was made for the TV. I think your great Dhani and this could not have happened to a better person. Take care Dhani Jones. CK
Dahani, I would love to accompany you on at least one of your adventures!! I lead a pretty sociable active life at the beach in Jax. Fl. But would enjoy a break from it all with you!! I'm smitten!
Dahani, I really enjoy your show would love to go on one of your many travels should do a contest next season for someone to travel with you as a co-host of sorts.
Hey Dhani,
I'm excited about the show tonight. I'm sure it will be great. Only one was cold and we all know which episode that was right! Anyway I want be making any comments for awhile after this one. Finals are coming up, so i will be in deep study. I'm sure you will have more than enough fans to keep you company. The absents of my one little blog will not stop the show. I do want you to know however that although i will not be saying much here, i will be continuing to watch the show. Can't miss my Dhani! You do know that your my Dhani right? Everyone else loves the show, loves you, wants to meet you, wants to marry you, wants to be on the show with you, etc. Hey and maybe me too a little but besides all that, your just my Dhani Jones. Take care Dhani Jones and i will write again in about two weeks. CK (Chela)=)
Erin-Go-Bragh!!!!
Im from ireland and i think its great how you are showing america all the different sports of the world in such a great fashion.
Dhani,
Don't feel too bad about being called "Danny" the whole time you were there. My name is Charles, I go by Chuck and the three times i've been to Ireland i have been called "Charley"!!! Embrace your irish name and enjoy!! I'm sure that you felt the warmth of the Irish people as i did. Love your show and never miss it! Cheers mate!!
Dhani,
Just saw your promo for Aussie show. Disturbing speedos but should inrease your female demo. I'll tough through this but I am TRUSTING u...damn. Don't worry will still watch the show. Hopefully speedos shots minimal...LOL
Dhani,
I have just started watching the show in the last two weeks. It is so neat to see all the different sports from all the different countries being played by a beginner, but yet a pro athlete. I have enjoyed the shows I have seen so far. It looks like you have learned a lot, worked very hard at all the sports, but yet had a lot of fun too. It is also nice to see something possitive come out of Cincinnati. Being a long time Bengals fan its so nice to see someone doing something good. Since my old favorite moved to Seattle in the offseason, I have to say I got a new favorite Bengals player in Mr. Jones, number 57. You know how that is ? Send a message if you get a chance. tAke care and always Who Dey !!!
10 10 10 10 from all the judges, Nice Bru. and the speedo is cool too
I'm watching your show first the first time right now Dhani and you are hilarious. I usually don't comment on web pages or blogs, but I was so impressed by you I had to leave one. One reason why I'm in love with this show already is because I love to learn about different cultures and because you are an African-American, I can relate more of what you are going through in a different environment. Did I mention that you are hilarious!! I felt a little bad for the sheep though, lol. ;-) Keep up the good work work handsome!!!
~Anika~
I really enjoy your show. Keep up the good work!
I love, love love your show!!! It is really refreshing to see your perspective on all of these great sports of the world, that we as viewers might not otherwise get a chance to learn about. I love to travel and you are really making me want to expand my horizons even more. Would love to accompany you on one of those great adventures around the world. :-) Hope that there's a second season and even more Dhani Jones!!!!!!!
my husband and i love your show...we watch it all the time! we're both huge sports fan so being able to learn about so many different types, from all over the world, through you is really amazing!! i agree with Elizabeth, ever think about taking a fan (or two!!) along with you on one of your aventures??? ;)
keep up the great job...we look forward to more and more new episodes!! by the way, any chance for a dvd of season 1, once complete?? and hopefully a dvd for each season to come?? :)
yep, when in rome...
It is a great show. My husband and I came across it, and now, won't miss an episode. What a great take on the typical travel show. There is a great truth in finding one common link with a 'foriegn' culture and building on that one link.
As a native Cincinnatian you may have given me a reason to watch the Bengals for the first time in my life :-)
Enjoy the show and got my brother hooked on it as well. You need to have a part of the website that focuses on fashion. You dress really sharply and, although I'm guessing some of your clothes are custom, I would really like to know what brands you like. I especially liked your brown coat in this Ireland episode. Very sharp.
Hey Dhani. I loved the show in Ireland. When you are back in the states, stop over in Milwaukee, WI where one of the largest Hurling Clubs is located. Other cities are modeled after the Milwaukee club and we are lucky enough to have the 1st American to be invited for the All-Ireland Poc Fada and the club administrator, Dave Olson was the 1st American honored by the GAA with the prestigious President's Award.
Our season opener is Sunday May 17th. We would love to hit around with you. www.hurling.net
As usual, a great show; Dhani cracks jokes, swears, drinks, does some spiritual exploration, sweats, and takes his shirt off again! So, Dhani is on fire with the ladies; I'm going to have to start up an all-female Chicago viewing party, haah...cat fights would ensue! Travel Channel, you need to do something with that! Win an adventure date w/ Dhani?! Big, Big, BIG hit!
Dhani, love the show, don't love my wife asking why I don't look like you without a shirt. Keep up the good work. If your interested I'll trade ya some of the worlds best skincare products for a jersey.
I love this show. Dhani is so down to earth that I feel like I know him well. He is very engaging. I was laughing so hard when I was watching the Ireland show at several points. I wish I were traveling along with him. : )
So what was the prima donna moment...please share!
*Third times a charm* I don't know what's been going on with my post. Anyway, Dhani...great show. You're silly and at the same time extremely intelligent. Keep doing what you doing and I'll keep watching. ;-D Also, I agree with the other posters, you show keeps getting better and better every episode. :-D
Great story Dhani we love your show keep up the good work

Thank you
The Ireland show was “BORING” (keeping it real) – You appeared as though you where just going through the motions w/o emotions. Not as much laughter & joy that enlightenment look you keep in your eyes when you are engaging into a new adventure (like when you drive tractors) like a kid getting their first bike.
You’re smiles where half cracked. Maybe fatigue or maybe you want to be the producer & the cameraman. There where fun moments – the glass case of GUINNESS beers (all mines), the golf course (Eddie Murphy impersonations). I, as a viewer did not understand the rules of the game so I went to Wikipedia the free dictionary to look up “HURLING”& “PRIMA DONNA”. If, you do not know the rules of the game you really do not get as much pleasure from watching the game & to know individuals suffer from narcissism.
I’m a SPORTS fanatic – I usually will go for the underdogs. Do not have favorite teams but I do have favorite players. I usually get booed (don’t care)! But it’s cool to learn about the different sports that each COUNTRY play & pass along to the next generations. We Americans spoil & gratify the players with million dollar contracts to sit on the bench! & 45 million for 2 years to play Baseball. (Only in America) smile!
Until the next episode keep safe, happy, healthy & wealthy! From a viewer not a Fan!
Hey, Dhani - we went to Ireland this April, too - we're sorry we missed you! We thoroughly enjoyed your hurling episode - you made us Yanks proud!
DHANI WHAT CAN I SAY,YOU DO IT ALL.NOT MANY LIKE YOU EDUCATED,SMART,WELL TRAVELED WOW!!!!I LOVE YOUR SHOW ITS AMAZING!! AND THAT HOT BODY DOESNT HURT EITHER! H TOWN
With every episode, you have fun and enjoy the experience. That's what it should be about. I hope there is a second season as well. Take care.
Hey Dhani,
Is there any way to find out what you wear on the show? In a completely hetero way, I dig your clothing style and I kind of want to buy some of the items you have worn on the show. In particular, that coat you were wearing in the Ireland episode with the elbow patches... who makes that?
Also, I am excited for the Australia episode, but I am pretty disappointed that you didn't play Aussie Rules Football. I lived there for 6 months, and the whole time the Australians would tell me how much tougher AFL players are than NFL players. I think it would have been really cool to see you give it a go.
Well first of all I want to say I am enjoying the episodes I have viewed so far. You just seem to be full of life . I think it is cool how you are really taking an interest in learning not only the sports but the true culture of each country you visit. You appear to be a pretty good brother so far. { with that adorable smile LOL! ;0) } I wish you all the best that life has to offer you . Just know I'll be waiting and watching the Aussie show . I've seen the previews and yes I think I might record this one .
Dhani,
I saw this episode. You were a really good sport and did a very good job of humbling yourself to learn the sport of hurling. Keep up the good work; the show is a very nice departure from the typical tour guide travel shows. I'll keep watching.
Dhani,
I absolutely love, love, love your show. I can always be assured that I will laugh myself silly; especially when I'm having a bad day. Your sense of humor is unbelievable. This is one reality show that is tasteful, funny and educational all at the same time. Kudos to you and your team. You seem to be a very 'aware' individual. Need I say uncommon for a man. :) I like that you laugh at yourself. Your family must be very proud of you.
Keep up the good work.
Dhani,
Congratulations on your show. I'm sure that your parents are proud of you. It's great to inspire others to step outside of their comfort and career zone to make your special nitch. Wish you much success
Dhani,
I love Dhani Tackles the Globe. You're funny and I can't get enough of your crazy expressions. Your show brings a smile to my face and I can't stop laughing. Every Monday I record your show, just in case I might miss it. Then I have something to look forward to watch the next day. Keep up the good work and please keep on bringing us new episodes. Your show is awesome. Also, I love the bow tie...
Grew up in Cincinnat and have an affinity for Travel!! What a great blend...Dhani and the travel show!! Love your show!!!
Hey this was the first episode I caught...well done Travel Channel this is a keeper of a show...
Hey Dhani,
I have been watching this show for a few weeks now and I really like it. Lose the bowtie though honey!!! LOL On Saturday April 25 I was at home most of the day doing homework and I caught a few of the shows and one show that sticks out in my mind was the episode where you are playing soccer with the elephants. That was great TV!! This is a good show and I don't think they could have picked a better host than you. Oh and that speedo- good look!!!!
Oh Dhani boy... the pipes, the pipes are calling...
hahaa...this was a great episode
Ok Dhani,
I guess I should retract my statement about the bowties!!! LOL I applaud anyone's signature look so if that is yours then it looks good on you. Nevertheless this is a good show and you are a good host. I just checked out the episode in Ireland and I like these shows that show different cultures and sports that many people have never even heard. It seems as though you leave a good impression on the residents of these cities and towns.
The whole family loves the show!!! Good Job....
Absolutely love your show!! It is great to show the "not so touristy" side of different cultures around the world! I also have the travel bug, and I love to travel around the world! I hope you have the time of your life! Enjoy!!!
Hi Dhani
I would love to know your real impression of Ireland. Good SHOW.
When i saw that eposiode i was like what the heck but man good job at the sport i love your show that was the first eposode i saw and i will see the next one tonight since today is monday thanks and rock on man.
I LOVE THIS SHOW, IT'S ABOUT TIME A SHOW CAME ON THAT IS DECENT AND CLEAN WITH A SEXY BLACK MAN. I look forward to watching Dhani's show because it' s not like the rest of the tv shows with all that bull,, Go Dhani Go
Dhani - This is THE BEST travel show EVER! The combo of sports & culture is a brilliant idea! It's a sports fan's "Fantasy Vacation" - now one can live vicariously through you... Not to be sexist but I am sure the men love to see you play each country's no. 1 sport - while we women just love to watch you play, eat, talk, walk - whatever! Whew! I am a clothing designer so I especially enjoy it when you go shopping for local attire. The dressing room scenes and "modeling" sessions are HOT! When you retire from football you can always model - or be a comedian - or hey, just have a travel show! - Looking forward to more of you...- Javid in Hollywood, FL
Hurley is a soft sport and soo is this show. All you guys are nuts if you think this is a GREAT show. Come to america and i'll show you how to party.
I just love sitting on the side lines and watching all those fit men run by.
Anyway it seems you had a great time on this trip, and I can not wait to see the part of it the cameras did see. The show gets better every episode and you can see how you were becoming more comfortable in each new show.
HEY DHANI WHEN DOES THE NEW SEASON START. i CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR NEW ADVENTURES. HEY DHANI, WHY DON'T YOU GO ON DANCING WITH THE STARS. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU TRY YOUR HAND AT BALLROOM DANCING. I THINK YOU WILL HAVE THE MOVES TO WIN THE WHOLE THING. JUST AN IDEA, THINK ABOUT IT THOUGH.
