Hey Dhani! Keep up the good work man. I live in the northern portion, although in Catalonia not the Basque region, but I'm looking forward to Pelota in the Basque Region! I have heard some stories about the game and how crazy it can be. Good luck, and I hope you come out on top!

    Ciao for now

When I first caught your show (THAILAND) I was watching the NCAA Sweet 16. Your show turned out to be more exciting to watch. The Schwingen episode was O.K.. It's a good thing the NFL have regulation uniforms or you would be late for the game due to vanity reasons. The veiwers know you like cleanliness but true dirt & grit is what makes it exciting. Travel Channel good show

Hi Dhani, I'm really enjoying your show a lot. I would however like to say I think you were a little disrespectful to the Swiss in your behavior and with what you have written in your blog. I live in Switzerland part of the time while my husband works there. People are very friendly to us. Swiss are very formal and polite-nothing wrong with that. I love Switzerland and was disappointed you have written such negative things in your blog about it. Otherwise, great job w/your show and I'll keep watching.

Dhani, I'm a Bengals fan and that's was drew me to your show. After watching the 1st 2 episodes I'm hooked because you are showing me places and things I would have never even thought of. Swimming in that river and your comments about hypothermia were hillarious but you did it. Your drive and determination to do or try anything, especially warm cows milk, ugh, is amazing. Keep up the good work and I look forward to vicariously traveling with you again next week.

Dhani You totaly have heart and passion in what you do. I love it! I never seen a guy who has that much sentimental value and compassion in the love of sports around the world and who is very geniune! Thank you for showing the world that there is still a postive role model to look up to! Keep up the great attitude!

    NEW FAN - March 28 2009 @ 12:41 am

Okay, Confession. Not a diehard fan of football or hardcore aggressive sports, however after viewing two of your shows I believe I'm beginning to have a better appreciation of the sport you play professionally and the international sports introduced on this show. The greatest excitement is watching you serve as a fantastic host...always being true to self and doin' your own thang! Your individual funky flare, confidence and a little bit of intrusiveness all work together, in the best way. Your REAL HUMAN REACTION to certain circumstances is priceless (your producer/director is very smart not to edit out the "flavor" of those moments). I truly appreciate exposure to other cultures and their way of life. You seem to have the "IT" factor to make a genuine connection with the people you meet. The true magic happens for the viewer when your intrigue, charisma and sincerity all work together to make preconceptions of other cultures disappear, so that we are only left to embrace the human experience in front of us. IT'S WORTH MILLIONS! To you: Encouragement, Peace and Blessings.

love your show. You are a pretty funny guy.
However, you are going or have gone to China to dragon boat paddle. This is my sport for 6 years in Charleston, South Carolina. I am waiting to see you in this sport. It is a bit hard to get people involved in this, relativly unknown sport, and I need help to recruit young able bodied men and women to compete with me at festivals. So, buddy, I am counting on you talk it up and man it up. If you are ever in Charleston, come paddle with us on the river.

    Keep up the great job!

I am hooked on the show. It brings out two elements in which I enjoy sports and culture. If you could I need the name of the taylor that helped with that fly suit you got in England. Actually I my self is fan of the bow tie. It really is an underrated look. Anyways good luck and hopefully you can find a way to get back on the giants.

I've had wonderful experiences traveling but watching Dhani and Anthony Bourdain travel is hysterical! It's interesting how you really can tell a lot about a culture through sports and dance. How about capoeira in Brazil?

    Hey Dhani,
I am so behind on your board. I would have left a comment about your poems if i had made the time frame. I will try to do better next time. I know you probably write them mostly for yourself, but every poet wants his work to be admired. I admire your work as a poet ,traveler, and person in general. Who knew that football could lead to this. Maybe it's not such a bad sport after all. Dangerous as heck =) though. So is Rugby. I still don't understand that debate. Both sports are dangerous with or without pads. I do have the travel bug now, but i will have to start slow after i finish nursing school. Do state to state first. New Zealand however is on reserve for you Dhani. I want to go there with you. Can you DIGGIT mannnnn!!!!=) Take care Dhani Jones. CK

    Cynthia - April 02 2009 @ 2:07 pm

I caught the episode last night “Riding In England” far more creative than Switzerland when you were “SCHWINGEN”. I was enjoying the show for a second I was in a “DAZE” No he did not cut through the Bushes to complete the center of the “MAZE” (very bad boy)! In a blink of the eye you are in the of the most prestigious suit makers in the world SAVILLE ROW getting a tailored made $7,500.00 suit without your signature BOW-TIE looking kinda nice oh my oh my. RUGBY appeared to be about strength & DIRT. After the game slide on over to the PUB and FLIRT! FLIRT! FLIRT! (Party over here). Your Travels take you all over the continents away from the United States which are very FAR. What the Hell when you are rolling on winding England Country roads in a $100 Million dolla CAR! On your last day it was cool in the Locker Room when you where given a 150 anniversary Jersey the coach thought you where worthy. “BLACKHEATH IN THE HOUSE” It was fun to write this!

    Sending a Hug & a smile from a natural born “FREE/ INTELLIGENT/ WILDCHILD”

P.S. The Buck from the horse had remorse due to you did not know the coarse until u started talking crap about the producer (but you completed the jump and had a bruise on your rump) started rolling like a MF!

Later until the next episode – I believe you are a “CHOSEN ONE”! Vessel will sail for along time!

Great show! You are the idea host. You got a real gift when it comes to people. Since you attended U of M can we expect some shows about Michigan? I think I'm the only one that has a T-shirt that reads, "I vacation in Detroit".... Looking forward to watching your show ....

Hey Dhani. Love the show.....Come and hang out with us here in Chicago. We got lots of sports going on. You'll love the soccer team, "The Fire", the baseball team, The "Chicago White Sox," or you can just hang out with us at the Police Department or the Fire Department. We always got some boxing, hockey or some "Tequila" drinking going on. You'll love the city, and you'll love hangin out with me and my girls, I assure you!

    Hey Dhani,

The show is great. Loved the England episode. Just wanted to let you know that I went to the same HS as you (though in the stone ages. we won the State Champ 2x in a row in football) and good old CHS has had a Rugby team off and on since 1975. I am still in the area, and have been playing Rugby here in America since then. I am 47 now, and I still play Masters (over 45 yrs old) about 3 times a year. I'm also a personal trainer, and have trained NFL players, and Pro Rugby players. If you're in the area during the summer stop by Avenel Farm Park where we play some touch and do fitness work for the Fall Season. The Maryland Exiles would be happy to show you what's what at any time.

    Keep up the good work.

    Later

Dhani, first of all I love the name so unique. I just started watching your show and I am loving it. Not just because you are handsome, but because you have a great curiosity for different sports and cultures. Keep up the good work. I have an idea you should start a travel with Dhani sweepstakes to have a fan or viewer travel with you on one of your adventures. I would enter the contest a few time a day. God Bless

Dhani- the show is great; never thought such a concept would catch on so quickly. It is true the only way to truly grasp an understanding for another culture is to actually immerse oneself into it. On the show you not only demonstrate awesome sportsmanship but also a better look at other cultures at their best.

Dhani!!!! Hey I love your show and all of the different sports you have done so far. You seem like a really athletic person and I was wondering if I could make some suggestions for future activities.
I think the world of Cricket would welcome your presence and there are many nations that play the sport.
There are some interesting sports in India too like the physical sport of Khabadi. Maybe you can try camel racing in Rajestan. Good luck on your show and have a nice trip.

  34. 34
    Doug - April 28 2009 @ 3:12 pm

Dhani, my family loves your show! You offer wonderful insights into each nation and culture you visit.

My 14-year old son plays water polo and would love to see you visit Split Croatia to learn the game (his coach is from Croatia and has molded him into an outstanding player). We've always wanted to visit Croatia, and would love to see the country through your eyes.

Keep up the great work and we look forward to future episodes!

Why would you ever wear a Fidel Castro shirt? I just happened to watch your show for the first time last night and when I saw that shirt I said that's enough of this show. I sincerely hope your show is canceled. Do you even have a basic understanding of what Fidel Castro represents??

  36. 36
    Doug Bedford - May 06 2009 @ 11:29 am

    Dhani,

Love the show brother! Are you heading to Brazil? If so, will you possibly do Capoeira? That's would be awesome to give us some love!

  37. 37
    Bill - May 06 2009 @ 12:41 pm

I have really enjoyed your show but have to ask why you wore a Fidel Castro t-shirt. Honestly it made me want to turn off the tv. Hoping maybe you have a good reason.

A few other ideas Dhani: Florence, Italy. there are two choices:
Calcio in costume (medieval game, very physical.
    Sbandieratori (medieval flag throwing)
I can organize the whole thing for this also.

    Cesar - May 11 2009 @ 11:18 pm

    Dhani,

My first thought in watching the trailers of your show was that somehow, someway, you had earned a tremendous gift.
    To be able to travel around the world with the travel channels production budget and planning prowess;
just to express your charm, curiosity, and competitiveness. Priceless.
Fittingly, the initial ten minutes of the New Zealand show presented a bright athlete who can juggle audience entertainment on one hand and tremendous ambassadorship for American athletes with the other.
Yet out of nowhere you chose to wear a t-shirt that seemingly celebrates Fidel Castro’s revolution.
I have to assume that you don’t know that this man has murdered thousands of people in order to maintain and consolidate the power of a dictatorship which to this day continues to trample over most human rights.
I have to assume that you don’t know that this man almost caused a nuclear war and that his longevity is strongly attributed to a much forgotten resolution reached between the U.S. and U.S.S.R., preventing the U.S. from intervening again.
I have to assume that you understand that every neighborhood in Cuba has dozens of informants ready to report dissent to government officials which can lead to immediate harassment, arrest, or death.

Many people including President Obama feel that we need to take a measured re-engagement approach with the Cuban government. I guess some people are not sure in what is causing the oppression of the people?

    Castro or the American embargo?

Whatever the politic behind it, it does not give carte blanche to Castro and his cronies. This man is a murderer, and by definition is evil.

So Dhani, please add to this debate your thoughts and remember that it would be impossible to do this in Cuba.

    Sincerely,

    Cesar Cajigas

CAN I GO??? I believe that the hard work is worth seeing all the beautiful places. People like me, from the inner city, would never think to bungee-jump off of a bridge in New Zealand. I hope that when your show 'blows-up', you'll maybe decide to take some fans on a few of your adventures...and I'll the first to go.

  44. 44
    Ted West - May 12 2009 @ 6:01 pm

Love the show, but what's the deal with the Castro t-shirt?

  45. 45
    JC - May 14 2009 @ 10:15 am

Used to love the show and thought you were actually one of the few eloquent educated jocks that had some style.....I was watching the show weekly until you show up wearing a Fidel Castro t-shirt.

Being of Spanish grandparents who emigrated to Cuba I especially liked the Basque/ Jai Alai show.

But, you lost two viewers here for sure. My wife and I wont watch a show where the guy where's a shirt glorifying one of the worlds worst dictators, and to insult even more its got "Fidel 59" on the back celebrating the year communism took over....and still exists 50 years later.

At minimum you owe an on air apology......burn the shirt or something. I know thats probably not "cool" TV, but look where trying to where a "cool" T-shirt got you.

  46. 46
    Shamaree - May 14 2009 @ 1:57 pm

I have to say that watching you has led me to believe that you are one of those beautiful souls that are a blessing to be around. Your sense of humor is a lot like mine so maybe thats part of the reason I enjoy watching your show!! I now have my family watching your show with me every week! I think its wonderful that you have so many different interests, its not every day that you see men like you running around! God bless you and keep up the good work!

As for the right-wing morons above bashing Fidel Castro or your shirt #$%& those haters. Fidel is a hero to 90 % of the world, he freed Cuba from the Mafia and from being a pleasure island for Americans.

Dhani, you seem like a really great guy. I wish more high profile athletes were as down to earth and global as you appear to be. You are a great ambassador for the U.S. and hopefully can try and change some of the perceptions of us when we travel.

Keep everything exactly the same in season 2. Don't change a thing.

Dhani - you should have no problem becoming a movie star after you and the Bengals win the Superbowl next season.

You are a breath of fresh air and my son looks up to you greatly.
